Kennel News

Of course I should call it "The Palace News"

Construction on the New kennel started in the summer of 2013. It begain with a complete redesign , featuring everthing I knew my Goldens would enjoy. As well as everything that would make life better for my Goldens as well as myself.

Being a licensed contractor really helped in the construction. But it still was no small undertaking. From clearing off the land surounding the area to be used. It took weeks to cut trees and the remove all the stumps. Next came the cement truck three trucks were brought in to pour the footing and floor.

Once the main flooring had cured, I started the block laying, over 1800 blocks were laid , taking 3 tons of sand and 30+ bags of mortor. Then there were the bottles of asprin , to help my back each day.

This is without a dought the most time consuming part of the contruction at this point.Building the walls and setting the plate.

Of course all along I had my helpers. It seems for some reason that Golden retrievers always think they can do a better job at everything humans do.

The Inspector gave these comments. (Is the registrant in compliance with AKC Rules, Regulations and Polices.? Inspector: YES.

As summer was just heating up and the temputure was just about as hot as anyone would want. I started to install the trusses. This was quite an undertaking by myself. Each truss is 24 feet long and weighed over 140 pounds. Of course the old kennel was still in use, till I could remove it adding the remainder trusses and finishing the walls and roof.

Moving to the inside was the next project laying even more block, to ensure a clean private area for each kennel. This was one of the most importaint things I felt I needed to do for my Goldens. I clean keenel is something I take great pride in.
